Changing the Music
It's played on repeat even when we are not aware. You are not good enough. You are failing. You don't look like all the rest of the girls. You aren't worthy of a healthy relationship and family. You are not worthy of your blessings. You are never going to be able to live a happy and fulfilling life. This becomes a part of your being; it runs from your head down through your veins, moving slowly but powerfully to your heart. You don't want it to play anymore. Or do you? You hit pause thinking about how hard it would be to change, to grow. And even though it's terrible, you have become weirdly comfortably numb and complacent. You sit looking at your choices; you can’t stay on pause forever. Are you going to hit play and continue this way or are you going to hit stop and change the music?
